SAINIK FROM A HOLISTIC VIEW

To the Editors,
Hueiyen Lanpao and
The Peoples' Chronicle

Dear Sir,
Enough has been said and written about the recent ‘early vacation’ given by Sainik School Imphal to its senior-most cadets. This matter concerning the only residential Public school with a military touch in the entire state of Manipur, with Defence Ministry spending crores of rupees every year, is indeed a topic of great concern as a citizen of the country. But I am also worried if the news report and the editorials show its one-sided very biased nature of a big debatable issue by hitting the nail to the Principal alone instead of understanding the issue in a holistic manner. The task before us is not about hitting the ball to someone’s court but to understand the system as a whole through Empirical investigation and Logical understanding by everyone involved in it.

The very fact that the School sent the senior-most cadets for early vacation to prepare for SSB and Board Exams only to be called back in Mid-February when the SSB Interviews for the Cadets are over gives a blow to the news report that the students were sent home well in advance before their board exam. Again, the report that the students had been staying in the school during their winter vacations for the past many years shows its lacunae in the true information as the Class 12 students who got into the NDA written exam were always sent for SSB Coaching to Delhi and the rest were sent home for the preparation of their board exam during winter vacation in the past though few stayed back on their request.

Though the present Principal Col. Ravi Kumar is being questioned for sending the students just before their board exam in Class X , one cannot undermine the tension and chaos created by a few batch of students to the entire fraternity with the fights that erupt during this volatile period of the year. I am also worried with the way few citizens are too involved with the working of the present Principal in his act of taking a decision by calling a meeting with the parents before sending off the students for early vacation. Consulting few senior-most students of the school, I find them fully satisfied with the way the school deals this issue as they are now able to consult only the subjects they have doubts from different teachers outside the school and do intense preparation for the rest of the subjects at home.

By sending them for early vacation, the Senior-most students are very much happy that the School has exempted them from the responsibilities of organizing the ‘Annual Athletic Meet 2012’ with regard to their preparation. Moreover, no claims from Cadets outside the state as well as far off places who are staying in Coaching Centers outside the School can be entertained as they were given full liberty to stay back this winter vacation in the School. The question before us is : What does it matter to few citizens if the whole batch of students are very much satisfied with the way the School deals this issue? Here comes the need of the hour to ask whether the news reports are a vested interests of few people to defame the Principal and the School !

With the reports about the completion of the course in totality before December 1, I am also concerned with the way the teaching faculty dump the entire chunk of knowledge in one go during the past few months by conducting intense extra classes day and night with very less time for assimilation. But one should also understand the very fact that the boys had to prepare for their NDA entrance exam till the last week of August which deter them from preparing for the boards before that. In addition, One cannot deny the blame the School gets if the syllabi were not completed by November 31st as the boys will be busy with their SSB interview in the month of December and January and the month of February is well known to be preserved for self-preparation for the board exam. The Teaching faculty should be praised for this Herculean task for delivering what is needed during the stipulated time.

By questioning the quality of education imparted in this prestigious institution, one forgets to mention that Sainik School was established not to produce toppers of the Board Exams but to groom the boys mentally, physically and psychologically for entry into the National Defence Academy. The School should be highly appreciated in the way it bends its few rules to address the concern of few students who might get unlucky in their NDA exam by giving them a chance to taking Coaching Classes outside the School in order to boost their board results as the cut-off for University entry are soaring high in the recent years.

The worries of the senior-most students who have to prepare for NDA vis-Ă -vis their Board Exam finding a way to balance both should be well understood by the public. Well, what I want to conclude here is if books, studies and marks are the sole concern of a person, Sainik School is not for him. They are given a chance to walk out in their Class X through Aptitude tests and Counselling if they want to choose other career options. One should have a clear idea that Sainik Schools were not established to produce academicians but rather wholesome men with all round qualities. They are to adapt, manage and balance their studies with other works of life and that’s being a Sainik. No one has a valid reason to blame its working system as the whole set up is different from the rest of the schools in the country.

Yours
Rocky Wahengbam

We Can't go too far...

I've seen castles made out of
sand,
Met people who believe destiny is
engraved on the palm of their
hands..!!
I've seen people change their
faith,
Experienced love change into
hate..!!
I've seen people grow younger
with age,
And a bird who wouldn't fly out
of an open cage..!!
I've seen love sold for money,
People who are devastated inside
but outside they're funny..!!
I've seen the unicorn fall in love
with the toad,
People who owned half the city
have now hit the road or killed by his kins..!!
I've learned to expect the
unexpected,
Perfection doesn't exist, we are all
defected..!!
Everyone cries, some just manage to hide
their tears.
They say coal turns into diamond
over a thousand years..!!
Someone may believe you are one
in a million,
For others you are just another
nobody in the billion...!!
So live life with all that you have,
Cherish all your moments whether
happy or sad...!!
Feel blessed with what you are...!!
Because Life is too short and we
can't go too far...!!!!!!!!!

AIr Force Interview in Mysore - Musings

Every time the cloud of pain loomed
A tear filled my eyes
When this lonely heart was scared

I told my heart ‘Why do you cry for such reason?
This happens everywhere in this world’

These dark lonely times, time has distributed them to all.
Some sadness is part of everyone’s story,
Some sunshine is a part of everyone’s life
Your eyes are damp for no reason
Every second is a new season
Why do you waste your time over such matters
Why do you cry I asked my heart....

5. “Are you doing something?” or “Have you eaten already?” are the first usual questions a guy asks on the phone just to get out from stammering.

83. Guys’ weakest point is at the knee.
84. When a problem arises, a guy usually keeps himself cool but is already thinking ofa way out.
85. When a guy is conscious of his looks, it shows he is not good at fixing things.
86. When a guy looks at you, either he’s amazed of you or he’s criticizing you.
87. When you catch him cheating on you and he asks for a second chance, give it to him. But when you catch him again and he asks for another chance, ignore him.
88. If a guy lets you go, he really loves you.
89. If you have a boyfriend, and your boy best friend always glances at you and it obviously shows that he is jealous whenever you’re with your boyfriend, all I can say is your boy best friend loves you more than your boyfriend does.
90. Guys learn from experience not from theromance books that girls read and take as their basis of experience.
91. You can tell if a guy is really hurt or in pain when he cries in front of you!
92. If a guy suddenly asks you for a date, askhim first why.
93. When a guy says he can’t sleep if he doesn’t hear your voice even just for one night, hang up. He also tells that to another girl. He only flatters you and sometimes makes fun of you.

The Paradox of Our Age

Buddhism is a Philosophy of Life...A Psycho-therapy which explains the path of Life... No Need of God but just a Good Spiritual Guru... Buddhism depends more on understanding than faith...It is a Belief system which is tolerant of all other beliefs or religions...that is why there have never been any wars fought in the name of Buddhism. That is why Buddhists do not preach and try to convert, only explain if an explanation is sought.

Buddhist teachings can be understood and tested by anyone. Buddhism teaches that the solutions to our problems are within ourselves not outside. The Buddha asked all his followers not to take his word as true, but rather to test the teachings for themselves. ln this way, each person decides for themselves and takes responsibility for their own actions and understanding. This makes Buddhism less of a fixed package of beliefs which is to be accepted in its entirety, and more of a teaching which each person learns and uses in their own way.

ALL INDIA CBSE TOPPER 2012 is from MANIPUR

All Sainik Students ,Proud Manipuris and North Easterners... Like and Share him if You know him. He is the All India Topper from Manipur... Bro Muhammad Ismat (SSI Adm. No. 2612)

FIRST EVER ALL INDIA TOPPER FROM NORTH EAST

A Manipuri boy Mohammad Ismat scored the highest mark in the All India Senior Secondary Certificate Examination ( AISSCE) conducted by the CBSE, whose results were declared nationwide on Monday. Ishmat, a student of Imphal's Zenith Academy, scored 495 out of 500 marks.

Though there is no concept of toppers in the CBSE class XII examinations, KK Choudhury regional officer CBSE (northeast region) confirmed that this is the first time a student from the northeast has scored highest in all India level. "It is indeed great. We hope this is the beginning and we get more such brilliant students from the region every year," he said.

Ismat has got 100 marks each in mathematics, chemistry and fine arts while he scored 98 in English and 97 in physics. In his additional subject home sciences he scored 100 marks.

A student of Zenith Academy, Imphal, Ishmat has always been a brilliant student. As the news of Ishmat scoring the highest, the school went into a celebration mode. His success came despite academic calendar every year is disrupted due to bandhs and blockades.

Hailing from a poor Manipuri Muslim family in Lilong Haoreibi village in Manipur's Thoubal district, Ismat's father Md Bashirur Rahman, a government primary school teacher, had struggled to ensure Ismat a good education.

Ismat began his primary education at a local school in Lilong before switching over to Kendriya Vidyalaya, Imphal up to class VIII. He then joined Sainik School Imphal from where he scored 94.2 percent in class X CBSE examination. But, he could not continue in Sainik School as his parent could not afford the fees.

"After passing class X with high marks I thought of studying in the best school in Imphal. But I could not due to the acute financial difficulties faced by my family. All is not lost when S M Singh, the management secretary of Zenith Academy accepted my request to study in the school without charging much fees. With his guidance, I have come out with flying colours," Ismat said.

"Impossible is not in my mind and I have the strong conviction that everything is possible when a man determined to do what mankind can do. And this is the only tool for me to top in this national level examination," a jubilant Ismat told TOI minutes after the results were declared.

"Never leave till tomorrow what you can do today." This was the success mantra of Mohammad Ismat, who topped the All India CBSE Class 12 exam, the results of which were declared on Monday.

He wants to pursue Physics (Honours) from St Stephen’s College in Delhi, and crack the Civil Service exam later.

Richard Loitam and Racism

<<<THE BIG NEWS>>>

"The medical report from the DOCTORS of Victoria Hospital has said that the mysterious death of Richard Loitam was not due to physical injuries but due to a cardiac disease the source of which may be heredity. The POLICE will drop murder charges in Richard Loitam death case "

<<<THE BIG TRUTH>>>

Most of the time, cardiac-arrest-inducing Arrhythmias don't occur on their own. In a person with a normal healthy heart, a lasting irregular heart rhythm isn't likely to develop without an outside trigger, such as :-
1. Electrical shock,
2. The use of illegal drugs,
3. Trauma to the chest at just the wrong time of the heart's cycle (Commotio cordis).
NB: Sudden blow to the chest can cause no. 3

Now, I don't think Electrical shock was given to Richard Loitam.
The report neither says anything about any illegal Drugs...then
the death is due to trauma no .3 , which was triggered by the blow untimely given to Richard by the Convicts.

“My son was an active football player and was in good physical condition. Moreover, in his school here, he had to go through a medical check-up every six months. There has been no indication of heart problem so far. How can it suddenly arise?” SAYS HIS MOTHER Dr. R.K. Vidyabali.

“We both (PARENTS) are doctors and are fairly knowledgeable in medicine. If our son had shown symptoms of a problem, we would have known it. The report calls it hereditary, but there is no significant history of heart disease in our family.” added his mother

The Proof is the pool of blood in the pic below. We can't stay silent.
PROTEST ON SUNDAY( 20 MAY) AT TOWNHALL, BANGALORE FROM 4-6 PM.
PLEASE DO SHARE THIS. LETS STAND FOR JUSTICE TO RICHARD LOITAM.

Mr. Narayanaswamy quits IAS Job

First Rank in State in Secondary School Examination

First Rank in University in Plus Two

First Rank in IIT Entrance Examination

First Rank in All India IIT Computer Science

First Rank in IAS Entrance Examination

First Rank in IAS Training Institute

On passing out from IIT Chennai Mr. Narayanaswamy was offered scholarship by the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology , USA .. He who came from a middle class family believed that he had a moral obligation to give something in return for the lakhs of rupees the government spent on him as an IIT student. He had the intelligence and conviction to realize that this money came also from the poorest of the poor - who pay up the excise duty on textiles when they buy cloth, who pay up customs, excise and sales tax on diesel when they travel in a bus, and in numerous other ways indirectly pay the government. So he decided to join IAS hoping he could do something for the people of this country. How many young men have the will power to resist such an offer from USA ? Narayanaswamy did never look at IAS as a black money spinner as his later life bears testimony to this fact.

After a decade of meritorious service in IAS, today, Narayanaswamy is being forced out of the IAS profession. Do you know why?

Narayana Swamy's career has been marked with controversies due to his uncompromising stand against corruption.

A real estate agent wanted to fill up a paddy field which is banned under law. An application came up before Narayanaswamy who was sub collector then, for an exemption from this rule for this plot of land. Upon visiting the site he found that the complaint from 60 poor families that they will face water logging due to the waste water from a nearby Government Medical College if this paddy field was filled up was correct. Narayanswamy came under intense political pressure but he did what was right - refused permission for filling up the paddy field. That was his first confrontation with politicians...

Soon after his marriage his father-in-law closed down a public road to build compound wall for his plot of land. People approached Narayanaswamy with complaint. When talking with his own father-in-law did not help, he removed the obstructing wall with police help. The result, his marriage broke up...

As district Collector he raided the house of a liquor baron who had defaulted Rupees 11 crores payment to government and carried out revenue recovery. A Minister directly telephoned him and ordered to return the forfeited articles to the house of the liquor baron. Narayanswamy politely replied that it is difficult. The minister replied that Narayanaswamy will suffer....

In his district it was a practice to collect crores of rupees for earthen bunds meant for poor farmers, but which were never constructed. A bill for rupees 8 crores came up before Narayanaswamy. He inspected the bund. He found it very weak and said that he will pass the bill after the rainy season to ensure that the bund served the purpose. As expected the earthen bund was too weak to stand the rain and it disappeared in the rain. But he created a lot of enemies for saving 8 crores public money. The net result of all such unholy activities was that he was asked to go on leave by the government. Later such an illustrious officer was posted as "State Co-Ordinator, Quality Improvement Programme for Schools". This is what the politician will do to a honest officer with backbone - post him in the most powerless position to teach him a lesson. Since he found that nothing can be achieved for the people if he continued with the State Service he opted for central service. But that too was denied on some technical ground.

What will you do when you have a brilliant computer career anywhere in the world you choose with the backing of several advanced technical papers too published in international journals to your credit?

When you are powerless to do anything for the people, why should you waste your life as the Co-Ordinator for a Schools Programme?

Mr. Narayanaswamy is on the verge of leaving IAS to go to Paris to take up a well paid United Nations assignment. The politicians can laugh thinking another obstacle has been removed. But it is the helpless people of this country who will lose - not Narayanaswamy. But you have the power to support capable and honest bureaucra ts like Narayaswamy, G.R.Khairnar and Alphons Kannamthanam who have suffered a lot under self seeking politicians who rule us. You have even the power to replace such politicians with these kind of people dedicated to the country. The question is will you do the little you can do NOW? At least a vote or word in support of such personalities...
